Coventry Christian Schools’ Middle School Girls’ Basketball team wins ACCAC Championship game
Tuesday, February 24th, Coventry Christian Schools (CCS) Middle School Girls’ basketball team played in the Atlantic Coast Christian Athletic Conference (ACCAC) championship game at the Hill School’s Gillison Court in their inaugural debut into the ACCAC league. The playoff game was impelled due to a league tie with High Point Baptist Academy, with both teams having one loss. An exciting game from start to finish, CCS prevailed over High Point with the end score of 27-26. CCS pulled out to an early lead, with a half-time score of 18-10. The High Point girls were able to come back in the second half, and eventually overtook CCS by the fourth quarter. In the last seconds of the game, Tori Hanover (High Point) put them ahead by one point with a foul shot. With a second foul shot miss, Sara Graham (8th Grade, CCS, 16 points) sprinted down the court with the winning lay up with just two seconds left in the game. Sara finished the season with 251 points, averaging 15 points a game. Other high scorers for the game were Jane Hopkinson-Wood (7th Grade, CCS, 5 points), Mary Niehls (8th Grade, CCS, 2 points), Kaylie Niehls (5th Grade, CCS, 2 points), Lorraine Piccirillo (High Point, 17 points), Paige Hansen (High Point, 3 points), Katie Tower (High Point, 5 points), and Tori Conover (High Point, 1 point). Congratulations to both Coventry Christian Schools and High Point Baptist Academy for their terrific seasons!
