General Information

Dear CCS families,

Hope you are having a wonderful summer!

As the librarian at CCS, I would like to encourage you to read with your younger children as much as possible. Please encourage your older children (middle school and up) to begin their summer reading assignments as soon as possible. The required books for grades 6 – 8 and the recommended books for grades 9 – 12 are available at the CCS library. Multiple copies of the books have been reserved on the library desk. Feel free to stop by the school and borrow what you need.

As I look forward to the upcoming school year, I am excited about some of the changes. I am working to reorganize the library over the summer to accommodate those changes. Some of the books that are most appropriate for 9-12 year olds are being transferred to the Pleasantview campus library because of the relocation of the fifth grade class.

A small easy-reading book section is also being established at the Pleasantview campus library to accommodate the needs of the growing preschool classes. Teachers have expressed an interest in having these books available, and more books will be added as its use increases. Parents of preschool students are encouraged to take advantage of the easy-reading books at each campus for your children—these include phonics readers, easy nonfiction books, and classic titles such as

A growing number of college and career guides are also being added to the collection—I would encourage all juniors and seniors to take advantage of these selections!

Scholastic Book Fairs have been scheduled at each campus for the upcoming school year—no one will be left out! Dates are as follows:

Coventry campus: Dec. 6 – 7 "Buy one get one free" Mini-fair

April 7 – 11, 2008 – Full size fair

Pleasantview campus: November 5 – 9, 2007 – Full size fair

Volunteers are welcome and much appreciated in either library. Please contact me at home (610-404-2738) or at school to discuss arrangements. THANK YOU!!
